Madhya Pradesh Launches First Women-Run 'Handloom Cafe' in Pranpur

Bhopal: In a remarkable initiative aimed at promoting women empowerment and fostering a safe tourism destination, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board launched state’s first craft-based cafe- ‘Handloom Cafe’ in Pranpur. Located just 4 kilometers from Chanderi, a renowned tourist spot in Ashoknagar district, the cafe will be managed by a registered women’s group, Sakhi Saheli Lok Kalyan Sangh

From security guards to office managers, the café is entirely operated by women who underwent special training at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM), Bhopal. Additional Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, who visited the café said, “Handloom cafe is a crucial step towards empowering women and fostering a safe tourism environment. This project will not only provide employment opportunities to these women but also equip them with the necessary skills, confidence, and financial independence to improve their quality of life.”

By offering an authentic and memorable experience for visitors, the Handloom Cafe is set to become a symbol of the state’s progressive outlook, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Madhya Pradesh. This initiative marks a significant step toward empowering women in rural areas while promoting responsible and inclusive tourism.
