History of Wagah Border
Wagah Border is the geographical boundary that separates India and Pakistan. Ever since the country gained independence in 1947, the Wagah Border has served as the road link between the two countries.
It’s located 32km from Amritsar. Wagah is a village in Pakistan located on the GT Road that passes Amritsar and Lahore.
Since 1959 both countries have been conducting the lowering of flags ceremony, a daily ritual here.
Quick fact: India has a 110-meter flagpole, which is considered the highest one in the country. While Pakistan has a 122-meter flagpole on their side.
How to reach?
The best and most comfortable way to reach Wagah Border is by road. Firstly, you need to move to Amritsar, and from Amritsar, you would be able to get buses directly taking you to the Wagah Border.
You can also go by car, as there are no such restrictions. But you would have to face a lot of rush there, as many people visit the Wagah border daily for the parade.
Wagah Border Parade time
If you are travelling to the Wagah Border in summer, then the parade timing is 5:15 pm, and if you are travelling to this place in Winter, then the timing is 4:15 pm.
The overall parade ceremony takes around 45 minutes.
However, the main entrance of the Wagah border is open from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Also, if you want to explore this place properly, make sure to visit this place 1 hour before the starting time of the parade.

The Wagah Border entry is free of cost. Although the seats are limited, they use the first-come, first-serve a management model.
